Black Beauty

From the Album Sunocide: Volume Three
by Stone Age Time Machine

I was a thoroughbred, they said Breeding is important, get that through your head Never bite the owner, or throw him from the saddle Work without complaining, lift your feet up off the ground Never bite that hand that feeds you, do not make a sound They called me stormy as a colt And taught me to bear a human's weight I carried a load all my life, and worked tp pull a cart I had many owners and knew many kinds of heart But they all sold me down the line. And they gave me a new name, something fine Hey yeah, they called me black beauty They put iron on my hooves so I could walk the road And a halter on my neck and a bit for more control They thought that I was beautiful, and so they gave me a name Black beauty they would call me, and that became my fame My brother died on a fox hunt, my sister was sold away And I was sold as property, and became a kind of slave They called me black beauty They called me black beauty I never met anyone who was kind, said Ginger to me I was taken from my mother as soon as I was weaned Boys would throw stones at me and laugh and run My owner never had a kind word or let me run Brutality lives within the human race And so does kindness, if they let it into their hearts It will shine like the sun and blind us But the evil is in there deep And good is just synonym for stealing Good and evil don't matter when you're in captivity We horses are their slaves and suffer lifelong, the indignity They called me black beauty
