Book News June 2025: The New Novel Is Rolling Out Now!

Saint Susan: Mesa My Heart is out now in paperback. A NOVEL OF FORBIDDEN LOVE. This is my longest novel to date, 113k words. What can I say, the books just write themselves sometimes, there was a lot of story here.

Synopsis:

This is the story of Robbie Gray, the young con-man and habitual liar, who gets a golden ticket out of Florida to attend Kickshaw Preparatory School For Boys in California.

He meets Jonah, the Malibu surfer, William, the Artist and D & D Dungeon Master, Christian the athlete and pot head, and Cadogan, the ladies man, and all the Kickshaw 'Masters,' (teachers) who sometimes fail to impress.

And then there is Susan. I can't say too much about her — spoilers — but Susan is a good Catholic with a heavy cross to bear. Robbie befriends her and (as Robbie would say) "complications ensue."

"At its core, Saint Susan is about the quest for friendship and love in a lonely world, where success is everything, fear of disappointing a parent can ruin a life, and overpowering emotion is only a kiss away. Life is fleeting and we lose people we love on this journey."

This is a FUN TEENAGE ROMP with no explicit sex or violence (but lots of discussion of 'adult themes,' drug use, etc.)

First release is a 5x8 paperback, ISBN 978-1763853959

Book News January 2025: The Campbell Club Is Out!

The Campbell Club: An Historical Romance, 1985 is out, guys. This was a difficult book to get going on due to my schedule but once I found the voice, it just kept coming. I had to stop at 75k words. It's got worldwide distribution on KDP.

Synopsis:

In the 'Greed is Good' 1980s, a quirky Buddhist wannabe makes friends and influences people at the infamous "Campbell Club," a student housing co-op in Eugene, Oregon, where the members are known for studying hard and playing hard.

Robert Gray, aka Sutra, wants normality back in his life after a stint at Rajneeshpuram (the intentional community branded a cult by the Establishment.) A friend encourages him to return to school and complete his education as a path back into the world.

He discovers the Campbell Club is a cultural and spiritual microcosm of the wider world and falls under the spell of a Dance major named Cindy Sterling. However, unable satisfy her, he gets some help in matters of the heart from an unlikely source.

Meanwhile the co-op is changing. New members bring chaos and threaten to disrupt everything the Campbell Club stands for, while old members including Cindy leave. The climax of this period of change is the catalyst Ecstasy: a then mysterious "love drug" so powerful it alters personalities permanently. Some, perhaps for the better; but there is danger as well. As the situation spirals out of control, friendships are broken and betrayal leads to disaster.

This is a fun romp with no explicit sex or violence (but lots of discussion of 'adult themes,' drug use, etc.)
